Bathrooms

I am in interior design mode and right now Im thinking bathrooms!! I am uninspired by my google search and I got to page 16.....yes 16 before I even found a bathroom I loved and Im not sure that even if I copied this bathroom that it would really work unless of course i lived on a beach and loved to show off my bubbled bathed body to all who sun worshipped below my window...........even more of a no no when you think of Great yarmouth beach........hmmmmm so moving on........

currently I have a blank background,a sea of white and nothing to give it the wow factor,its clinical and practical (easy to clean) and I decided i would love to have a bit of romance injected in to my operating theatre kinda look bathroom and so i started my search????

and then i wonder where do you start?

Shower curtains seem a good place as I am a loather of them,yet they serve a purpose,who wants a flooded floor?? and I find this..................................

My search has begun yet I cant get one anywhere near the United Kingdom unless i am willing to pay Anthropoligie price tag of £98.00 and so I am on a quest to make this little baby and i will update you with my results very soon

Happy birthday Megan,you need to stop growing up so fast though!!!
Megan is such fun,she makes me laugh so much,we spookily share the same thoughts and laugh at the most strangest things and sometimes during our deep conversations we realise that thoughts and feelings we may not be confident to share among others are mirrored and we can then laugh till our bellys hurt

Megan is such a home bird and I love that but I realise that she will be spreading her wings more and more now she is growing up but at the end of the day I know she will always fly home,she is still my baby in my eyes

The moment my daughter put on her wedding dress,we are exchanging looks that are glazed with tears of emotion and happiness.I could not have been a prouder mother.
The day was an amazing day and Rebecca had made such special touches that will make the memory last forever

Getting ready for the big day was a very special time,it was calm and relaxed,not what I had expected it to be, almost surreal and another wonderful memory that when I look back on this picture it just brings back that wonderful day like it was yesterday

My beautiful daughter and my new son in law,I really could not wish for a better son in law,he looks after Beckie so well and I know she is in safe hands,they make a very special couple

A Little Lucy update,almost 3 and a half!!

I have not been blogging recently and i know that a lot of people that check in here come along to see how the little lady Lucy is getting on so I thought I would just drop by and give a little lucy update.

All I can say is what an amazing transformation we have seen in Lucy now that she has started nursery two mornings a week,she is a confident,popular,funny chatty little girl and her speech has hit new heights.

She has a one to one support worker called Kim who is an amazing woman and knows the right time to step back and step in when needed,she has given Lucy the freedom to explore and make friends and is happy when Lucy tells her I dont want to play with Kim I want to play with my friends!!

Lucy has her lunch at school and she does so well and there have been no issues,Lucy has adapted so well,she has become independent.

There is so much to say that I just cant fit it all in to one post!!

She is now in a big girl bed and there have been no problems there,the stair gates are down and she manages the stairs,she takes herself off to the toilet and picks out what she is going to wear each day,such cute combinations as well......maybe not too color coordinated!!!

She has made some good little friends as well and they all run over to each other in the morning,its so cute and show each other thier baby dolls,we even have to pick out baby dolls clothes on a nursery morning,like they discuss what their babies are going to be wearing.

I worried that Lucy would not form (normal) friendships but I had no need to worry,she is a very popular little lady in class.

I have the most funny amazing conversations with lucy now,she has decided she wants a horse and she is going to have a pink hat and boots and gloves and her horse is going to be called BIG EYES!!

She has an amazing humor,she really gets irony and she told me today that she hated her cheesy mash at school,Hated!!! thats a strong word that she has never used before

She is bouncy and lively and such a joy to spend time with everyday and while i know we will have issues later down the line Im just focusing on the here and now and loving my confident very very chatty girl

Any body who knows me or comes to my home knows I love signs and pictures and letters as decoration,something draws me to them I have maybe 12 different displays of affection on show around my home

but my wish list is ever growing as I recieve the new catolougue for Not on the high street.com and i am drawing some inspiration

Project cardigan complete and my new favorite place to go

I have completed Lucys cardigan at last,and I am quite pleased with the results.I dont think I would have quite got so in to this if I had not had such terrible back pain recently as I am still a seamstress girly by nature but i have actually really enjoyed cozying up at night with a good film and my knitting needles,its defiantly a winter hobby.

Lucy actually hated the cardigan and I had to bribe her to wear it for me so I could take some photos.!! Just typical!!

She did wear it though when we went out later that day to have a little brows round the last of the sale bargains.......I just about cleared out Jarrold store of their joules sale items I cant resist I got a dress for Lucy reduced from £32.00 to £ 8.00 now that's a result!!

Anyway here is the finished cardigan

When we were out today I went to visit a new store that has opened called Hobby Craft and I just know i am going to be a regular there it was 2 floors of everything craft and I was like a kid in a candy store,in fact Andrew had to about drag me out of there .

You can try out all the stuff as well in the craft corner so you get to see how things work

I came away with some new wool to knit Daniel a hat..........watch this space I may get it finished before winter is out

A good reason not to do piano practice

When you have spent ages strategically placing you soldiers in prime spots to commence battle then how could they possibly be moved so that army Sergeant Daniel can do some piano practice!!!

A clever tactic on Daniels behalf and as you may tell his new years resolution is not to concentrate on scales and chords.

I knew this piano would give us hours of enjoyment for all the family

I have also made no resolution this year either as mostly mine are to get fit and lose weight and that may last a few days at most.........although this year I really am going to get fit and lose weight!!!!

I have decided that its come to a time when Andrew and I need to make extra special time together,we are always so busy with the children that we sometimes neglect our relationship,I can count on one hand the times we have made a date with each other and gone out with no children and this year that will all change and we have decided that we are going to make that extra effort to get out together rather than one of us staying in to babysit while the other one goes out and I'm looking forward to my first date of 20011 already.

We are already back in to the swing of routine here and Christmas is almost a distant memory although I did find a couple of photos from the end of 2010

During the christmas period I have little time to do what needs to be done let alone any posts,top that off with siatica pain on every movement,dosed up the eyeballs on pain killers and maybe you can understand my lack of cheery christmas posts....bahhh humbug!!!

I worked through it though and had a wonderful christmas time with a big focus on friends as well as family this year and it made christmas extra special to spend some time with great friends.

I was spoilt christmas day by rebecca who cooked a fantastic meal for us all,even though she put the oven on grill for the first 3 hours,the turkey was fine and cooked to perfection,maybe grilling is the way to go!!!

I was amazed at Lucys understanding of the whole christmas thing,she was very in to it all (my party girl) right down to choosing her own outfit and shoes for christmas day,she has style!!

I sadly didnt take pictures this year as I could barely lift myself up let alone a camera so I am afraid this year I will just have my memory of events and those I will cherish! My back is not good right now and so I have not been very creative either although have taken up some knitting,project cardigan!!

One thing that has brought me great joy this holiday season is how well lucy has come on with her speech,its truly amazing and very understandable

Last night she rattled this big sentence off as I was putting her to bed

Me "Time to go bed now Lucy"

Lucy "Ok,Me go in my bed,Gaga (her name for Daniel) go his own bed,he naughty,mummy go bed,daddy go bed,megeg go bed,everybody go to bed.

she then lay in bed chatting to her doll asking dolly if she had missed her and that she needed to put her covers on

It was so sweet and its great now to hear her opinions and her humor is amazing,she is very funny and cheeky and now she can use words to express her personality,im loving this independance its giving her and she loves it too,she is soaking up these words and putting them in to context.

Also just to document another first,this time for my big boy Daniel,he has lost his first baby tooth,and guess what ................the tooth fairy came to our house last night.

frozen back in time

today was a normal kind of day,well if you dont count the root canal filling at the dentist (ouch)!!

I was driving to pick up Daniel from school,happily singing to the radio when Leona lewis blasted out the radio,bleeding love and it froze me to the point of tears and sent a shiver down my spine

Then I realised its almost three years to the day that I had conformation that my beautiful baby girl had prader willi syndrome and this was the song that was playing on the radio the day the consultant told me,he told me over the phone at my request as I could not face the wait for an appointment to confirm that my worst fears were true

Today the song is not played much and at any other time its never really got to me like it did today,the tears fell for my little girl once more and the words seemed even more apt,I keep bleeding love for my daughter and at the time of her diagnosis I thought I was going crazy and although I dont dwell ,today it took me right back to that life changing moment and it made me see how far we have come in the last 3 years and how much love and happiness my special girl has brought me and our family and she has taught me so much,far more than she could ever know.

Monday makeover

Now that winter has defiantly arrived....first frost last night

weekends have taken on a new dimension and we are all feeling homely and have that dark night cozy up time,no nipping off to the seaside for fish and chips.....well maybe now and again!!!

Its home and shut the door,fire on,warm winter fodder on the stove and lots more dark hours to fill and so I stumbled on this

I think its amazing how she can turn the most horrendous dress in to something great to wear and although i am not brave enough to do this challenge on a daily basis I thought maybe I could have a makeover Monday each week ( although dont hold me to it) on my blog and see what I can up cycle over each week

here is my first up cycle object.............pretty horrendous huh!! And it was £4.00 from a local charity shop,seriously though this came with a skirt to match (another monday makeover project)

Its 5 sizes too big for me but I was drawn by the buttons and the winteryness of it

I used a tunic that fits me to establish the size and basic shape I was looking for

I then cut up the sides and shaped the arm holes and after a bit of nifty stichery ended up with

its going to look cool with a pair of wool tights and black boots,looking forward to wearing it!!

Next project mission

There is a definite chill in the air now and the dark nights are drawing in,yes winter has arrived and my thoughts turn to coats and boots always at this time of year

I pour over the glossys of winter woolens and this year the theme is certainly military and as a non follower of fashion I had not considered but on my drive to school every day I have seen this lady walking along in this

I didn't know where it was from until Megan had asked me to take a look at an item on top shops site,and there it was the military coat that I am now putting on my wish list

It then got me to thinking that I could not find a coat that I really loved for Daniel and Lucy,I'm not talking about every day coats but something a bit eye catching and so I decided to make a coat......as you do!!!

It was a real happy accident in the fact that I ran out of wool for the front bodice and ended up with the spotty lining on the outside too and then a great find for the matching buttons at my local sewing shop just a walk in to town away

And I added a kinda military edge to the front

Now its Daniels turn and in this months Ottobre design magazine

I am just waiting for my delivery of this months issue and to find some nice soft wool and this will be my next project,Im very excited to get this one made as my little chap will look such a dude in this

Well thankfully Lucys little op is over and all went really well

She was a little star and seemed so grown up in how she conducted herself.We had no tantrums over her getting no breakfast that morning and she was quite happy to let the Drs and nurses deal with all the hands on stuff they needed to do

I was more than proud of my little lady and had no need to have worried about how she would react to the anasthetic as she almost jumped off the bed straight out of recovery

One thing that did surprise me was her appetite after her anasthetic......it was HUGH!!! She has not stopped asking for food all day so I am hoping that its just a side effect that will wear off and not a new stage of her pws

When I get a bug for something I get it big style,it could be photography,cake making,cooking,knitting and right now its my sewing machine that is getting my attention

I love crafting,could you guess!!! I want my children to grow up with the ability to make and create,even more so important for Lucy who may need to keep busy hands when she gets older and so I try to surround them with made with love items to inspire them

On my last post I had put up a mention of a book by Emma hardy and I also found this book in my local library by the same author,its great for getting your littles in to making and has some really sweet ideas and will be on my list of books to buy once it goes back to the library

I dont as a rule make much stuff for my only boy Daniel as I find boys clothes need a lot more tailoring,something that intimidates me a little but when he asked me to specially make him something nice how could I say no and I only have a window of time when my cool boy will wear something that I have created so I set to and made him this rock out dressing gown

My boy lives in his jammies at home and so he can now cosy up in his rock strar house coat too

Little red riding hood

A rainy saturday at home left me feeling creative and a little project I have been meaning to do for a while took shape in the form of a little red cape for lucy

I made it in wool with a soft cotton lining and as Lucy doesnt like the restriction of chunky coats this I felt was an ideal cover up without the hassle of feeding her reluctantly in to a coat and with only one button we can escape out the house in a flash

I can honestly say this was so very easy to make that even a complete begginer would find it a breeze

The book that I took the pattern from was from Emma hardys making childrens clothes

There are some really neat patterns in there and all very simple but effective,Im going to make the little boys dressing gown next and have some rather groovy material already and waiting

All I need is some time!!!!

The little lady is 3 and she blew all her candles out

Ok so to some this may not seem like a massive thing but Lucy blew all her candles out twice!!! this comes from a little girl that didnt have enough muscle tone to even cry for the first 3 months of her life and could not suck from her bottle or make a sound

she has some huff and puff now and her third birthday marks the start of candle blowing!!

We had a quiet affair for her,just family,and she loved it even though she wont admit that she is three

when you ask her her age she says she is two......this could be a bonus when we go to the zoo as three year olds have to pay..........hehe

A little lucy update

Around a month age we set out to Sheffield childrens hospital to get Lucy fitted for a new back brace and see the spinal surgeon and now finally i have a second to update

We had 2 appointment over 3 days so we stayed with my mum (thanks mum,I know we kept you busy)

Lucys xray showed that the curve had not progressed and in fact it actually looked a little better at the bottom end although the xray in my opionion was a little rushed and my little wiggly girl would not stand still,I didnt want her xrayed laying down as it doesnt show a clear picture so we got a just about to run off picture of Lucys spine

Mr cole her surgeon is happy with how things are and we are still not at a stage of operating although he says its likely that one day she will need surgery but as ever I stay the true optimist.

She is still too diddy for a spinecor brace yet and they are really hoping that another year will give her enough growth to be able to fit in to a spinecor brace.

Lucy was cast for her rigid brace and she did so well,no tears no crying,she was amazing and now she is the proud owner of a very pink very pretty butterfly brace

This will hopefully be her last rigid brace as we hope the next one will be the spinecor

Lucy has adapted very well to her brace and we are putting her in it a little more during the day now to get her back in to line again and then hopefully we can just brace her at night again

All in all a good apointment and we dont need to back till 6 months time.

Another little note on Lucy is she has started pre school and she got funding for a one to one support worker who is really looking after Lucys needs well.She is doing 2 morning a week and although is not too happy about leaving me she is settling in nicely

I am a very slack poster of my blogs and I just seem so busy all the time that its hard work keeping up

A big reason is my little lady Lucy has decided not to nap in the day anymore.....OOHHHH NOOO!!!!

Its been a busy cake making month,as you can see!!

I asked my children what cake theme they would like for their birthdays Megan,who was 13 on the 11th august (photos to follow) wanted a camper van cake,so this is what she got

The pink 3 teird cake was for a lady who I know from Daniels school whos grandaughter was 1 and the Thomas cake also for another of her relations

the thomas cake was quite hard to do but it turned out ok in the end.

I still have another 2 cakes to go Daniel wants an army tank and lucy wants a dog cake

We had a very relaxing evening,even with Daniel and Lucy in tow,in fact they were better behaved than their dad........who probably isnt katies best fan but sat through the perfomance and was the one who actually brought me the tickets....thankyou again Andrew

we packed up a rather large picnic,with some bubbly wine for us adults and bubbly flavored water for the children,who drank it from champage flutes that made it taste better than it really did

we found our little spot on a bankment so we could eat drink and soak up the mellow soft sounds of Katie and her support band.....we even danced a little........mainly so nobody invaded our little space that we marked as our own

we had the best weather a barmy sunny july night watching one of my favorite singers in the middle of the forest....surreal!!!

Today has been all about cakes!!
My friend is getting married in september and we set about designing her wedding cakes today,we spent a long long day decorating,mixing,icing,and tasting of course and our two little girls played as happy as sand girls together,it was a good day for all and here are some of the results

The cakes will be on sale at Daniels school fete tomorrow to rasie funds for the school.

Royal Norfolk show 2010

We arrived at the show at 10am,it was warm and very busy,Daniel had gone with his school and the plan was to meet up with him after lunch so he could spend the rest of the day at the show.

We met up with some friends and enjoyed a lazy pimms while we people watched and drank in the atmosphere.

We met up with daniel ,it was great to watch his face full of fun sliding down the big slides,oh my heart was in my mouth,I must say i breathed a sigh of relief when their time was up

Daniel got a sit in a police car so he was happy too,he was happy with his glove puppet too

Megan and Lucy are such a close pair and watching them together was so beautiful,Lucy is in awe of her big sister and Megan is very protective over her little sister

We finished off the evening at the vintage funfair,it was such a magical time of the day and it made the place seem almost enchanted

we left with 2 very tired littles at 7pm after a wonderful day at the show

A sewing corner

every time I want to sew I have to lug out my sewing machine from under the cabinate and then pull the coffee table out from in front of my sewing shelves just so I can get to my supplies and to be honest by the time I have mustered up the energy to creat the enthusiasm has wained

So...............I have earmarked a little corner of my family room that could be my little sewing corner and now I just need a little inspiration to make it happen

A sweet treat for a tired dress

I stumbled upon this little dress in our local charity shop,its never been worn but it looked like it had a little something missing

I decided to make my little cupcake a cupcake dress and hunted through my stash of fabrics and found just the right colours

Now thats better!!

Lucy was in this dress all of 10 seconds before she had gotten it dirty and not even long enough to get a photo in but trust me she looked super cute

My Andrew returned home last night with the best present

No not a lady wearing stockings riding a bike!!

Just the bike.........thankfully!!

I am now the proud owner of a 1940s/50s vintage Raleigh cycle and I am just so excited and thoughts of this...........

And blinging up my basket

its sending me in to frenzy of delight

I guess I never got this excited about a bike scince I was 10 on christmas day but its good and I have just another reason to love my Andrew even more

I have always enjoyed baking and of course eating my creations so it was no problem to bake a batch to take along to my friends new Knit and natter group (we are thinking of changing the name just a natter group as not much knitting is going on) ........but thats another story!!

I took some cupcakes and we all enjoyed a nibble and a natter but I had not realised just how much they had enjoyed them as our next meeting I had two orders fro my cupcakes.

#The first was a 40th birthday party.......no probs

The second was a wedding !!! ohhh pressure!!

A wedding cupcake must be perfect and I have stressed the fact that my cakes may taste good but to look at they lack a little flair

And so I need to practice and I am afraid I am going to become a cake bore and be posting lots of pictures of new creations

Just a few names my daughter is known by.

Megan is going to be a teenager this year,time is flying away and it seems hard to think that the teenage years are upon us.

I have already seen one fly the nest in Beckie,its still hard to think that she is now a mummy and has her turn to have special girly times with Evie so I know how fast life can pass by and I just want to hold on to time and slow the pace a little

Megan is just such a grounded girl,she is very witty and fun to be with and in amogst the crazyness of our family life being the eldest of siblings at home gets the raw end of the deal sometimes

she may have to endure doing little kiddy stuff cos thats what we have to do with Daniel and Lucy but then again its a good excuse for her to be able to still be a child as its still cool if you are riding the roundabout or swinging high in the swing if you are doing it cos you have a kid brother

Our children our growing up too fast and its great that I can still capture that little girl in her even though she is totally an IT girl and just way too cool!!

We take time as mother and daughter,maybe not quite enough but we have our special girl moments just the two of us and its working,we chat as we walk at night after our evening meal and we share girl gossip and we laugh so much,its nice to get out in the evening sun and watch the sun set over the fields.

Lucy has been enjoying the sunshine and we are watching our garden grow

We planted a whole vegtable patch and popping up out the ground are lettuce,sweetcorn,tomatoes,spring onions,carrots and to add an oriental theme for daddy we planted some pak choi......its all growing and we cant wait to taste our crop.

Back in to the swing

After a long easter break we are getting back in to the swing of the normal daily routine,no more pajama days and lazy mornings for a while yet

But we did manage to get in to the swing in another way and took the children for a game of crazy golf and enjoyed some sea side fun

golf was quite a pressure,we had a stack of people waiting in the queue behind us and Daniel insisted on getting each shot in to the hole,even it took 18 attempts,Lucy is being potty tained and asked for the toilet about 95 times and what with the fact that the golf course is surrounded by water I spent most of the time diverting Lucy away from water edge,and then Daniel landing his ball in said water.....i could feel the eyes of the impatient golfing queue rolling high in to their heads.......ahh well,they may become parents one day!!! They can wait,we had some fun to be had!

We followed our gold game swiftly by a bowling game

Our money got stuck in the meter and we had to wait about half an hour for happy Harry the maintenance man to come and fix us up to get started but he gave us some extra credit and Dan got stuck in

Spring Fling

As the title says,we attended the spring fling today,it was busy,crowded and there were plenty of queues,just to sit in a tractor for a few seconds and dont even mention the queue fot the hog roast..............................BUT we had a great time

Even Little Lucy who had to spend the most part in her pushchair as it was just so busy we would have lost her in a sea of wellingtons if she had been let out

She had her own special entertainment in the form of Daniel

Megan and Daniel learnt how to make ice cream,it was super tasty I have to say

And the hour queue for the tractor......well even that lived up to a little boys expactations

Lucy was a little confused by the toy pony,she liked the real one better.

And I got to take home a rather large beautiful bunch of daffodils.

We have been very lazy this holiday and some days have not even ventured out the house,staying in our pajamas,pillow fights in bed,surrounded by a sea of books and toys and extended lunchtimes just chatting round the table and its been great not to have to DO anything,just relax and enjoy the simple things and it has been just the therapy I needed to get my sleeping pattern back on track.......ohhh my sleep ,or lack of has been a bug bear of late but after this week of unwinding I am beggining to give in to a well earned rest

YET.......today the sun called us out to pick the daisys that are growing on the feild and soak up a little spring time........and the supermarket called to stock up the cupboards too........hmmm real life always gets in the way.

How funny in my last post I asked for a little bit of summer and Voila..........today we got a little taste of summer sun.

I met up with a friend today and we layed down a picnic blanket and watched our boys being boys and chatted the afternoon away in a band of glorious sunshine.

It was great to watch Lucy running around,with one shoe on one she off mostly and see the boys super sports tactics over a game of football

This is what I asked for and I am thankful that even if it rains again for the next few days that I had a little taste of what our summer may bring

Megan will be back in 2 days and I cant wait to see her again.........countdown to the return of my growing up girl

A walk in th park

We were invited by Andrews sister for a picnic in the park,although a little chilly we had a lovely day and the children really enjoyed getting out in the fresh air

I am craving sunshine now and I am thinking of returning to this park in the knowledge that next time it WILL be sunny

I love the cozy winter months but its been such a long winter and I dont want wrapped up scarves,wellys and big chunky coats anymore...........hurry up open toed sandles,floaty cotton dresses,dirty kneed boys dressed in shorts,sun hats and sun cream and long lazy days spent jumping waves and sandy toes

Today we needed to escape from our house of illness
It seems like one after the other we have all been poorly,and the latest victim has been Andrew,and we all know how bad a man is when he is ill.

I am done with sick children........and men!!! lets celebrate easter and thats just what we have done today

We all know the true meaning of easter and maybe it gets lost in a sea of chocolate easter eggs but today we are reminded of easters true meaning and as we watch the parade from the salvation army today I feel blessed and happy to have my family near me and feel loved and happy and take a special moment to remember

We visited the french market with all its colour and drank in the smells from the fresh breads and garlic,and arrays of colourful crafts,the children took samples of different foods,some were met with distatse but an experience non the less

A visit to pret a manger is always a must and we even planted our own special pret a plant

Ending the day at the fair.

Andrew gave me a pound for Daniel to have a go on hook a duck.........he has lost touch with the cost of living as hook a duck is now £2.50!!!!!!!

Daniel was very happy with his win of a formula one racing car.......the wheels have already fallen off but its all got to be worth it just to celebrate our easter in our own special way

I actually love the word........hook a duck.......i say it many times a day in place of more colourful language...............ie,mummy drops something and now says.....(oh hook a duck) instead of........erm yeah you guessed it!!!!!

Missing Megan

Megan will be sking down the Austrian alps as I type and I am just hoping that she is being really careful as well as having a really great time.

She has gone away with the school and we waved goodbye to Megan for 10 days and I am already missing her on day one

Its been my birthday weekend and although I spent quite a bit of it nursing sick children I had a lovely weekend overall

I had some beautiful gifts from jewlery,pjs,cake plates,baking gear,photography book,book tokens,a whole load of seeds to plant and a beautiful herb planter to plant them in

I was spoilt and feel a very lucky lady

I had lots of cards,and will leave them on my fire place for as long as I think I can get away with it.

Beautiful flowers,I just love fresh cut flowers in the house and will even treat myself to a big bunch every now and again,its always spring when you have a vase of flowers in your house.

Oh yes its feelin like the spring has sprung,we are out and about as a family enjoying that sunshine and those fish and chips that are just compulsary at wells seaside

I HAVE TO ADD HERE...........I was in agony this day as I had really pulled my back out the day before trying to lift a rather large plant in my conservertory,infact it is short of a miricle that i was even out and about this day

BUT

I was..........and thankful for that as I had not visualised the week ahead of me,the day after these photos were taken my dear little boy came down with the worst tummy bug on earth and has been so very poorly,he had 5 days of hell and although he can ill afford it has lost so much weight,he is thinner than the thinnest bean pole now

We had a fantastic day by the sea,just watching the children picking up stones on the beach and running in the muddy puddles has given me a taste of the summer to come,my little baby girl has grown up so much,has become stubborn like her dad........that can bring some testing times but she has grown and grown in many ways that I never felt sure would come,she has done amazing things,she is my inspiration,as is all of my family.

We travelled in style to the beach by train

Me and my crooked back managed to climb aboard this train that carried us beach wise........crazy thing was a walk on the beach seemed to cure my poor back and as we missed the train going homeward bound and had to walk it...........I felt amazingly good and almost strutted back across the sea front

I did suffer the next day but hey!!!! it was worth it

Watch out!!!

I am loving this watch that I brought for my preppy little Megan

I was going to use this watch with all its beautiful ribbons like a reward chart that you use for toddlers,every time she leaves her room with actual floor space you can see,each time she feeds her furrys without being reminded,each time she just clears up just cos she wants to be helpful........ect ect.........then she gets a new ribbon for her watch

But it just seemed a crime to empty that box of all its colour so she gets the watch and bows and we will just have to work on the rest!!!

I went to my first Jamie at home party the other night(thanks Jayne) and I just fell in love with the storage jars and their brightly coloured lids and they have filled up my shelves in a happy bright way

It was not until I got in to bed last night that the full force of Michelles death hit me.
I rang Victor last night and almost expected him to say,its ok mate its all been a mix up ill just go fetch her.

We had to keep busy today

Lucy and Daniel would keep an army busy so I guess you could say I always am going to busy.
I didnt feel like venturing out,even though the sun shon today for the first time in months,i wanted to stay in the comfort of my own home surrounded by all things safe

So we baked....................again!!!!

We ended up with lightning Mcqueen!!

It was a good rememdy for taking my mind off the sad thoughts and I cherished every moment of watching my two little twinkles playing together,mixing,testing,testing and more testing.

I normally only bake when Lucy is having an afternoon nap as we really have to watch her diet due to her condition but today I wanted her to join in the fun.......life is too short!!!

I learnt today that my best friend of 30 years has passed away at the age of 41
She has left a husband and 2 children.Charlie 7 years old and Tom 5 years old

Michelle I just wanted to say its not fair,you have had your share of health problems and troubles
I remember the night I was with you when you had to rush to your dying fathers bed side and the sad and cruel way that you lost your mum.
I remember the time you had off school waiting for kidney transplants,i remeber your greif when you didnt think you would have children due to all your treatment

But most of all I remember the funny,crazy,positive girl you were!!!
Everything that life threw at you you made light of,you never let things get you down,you always laughed and gave a ray of light over everything.
You gave birth to two beautiful boys Tom and Charlie,I know you will be looking down on them.

I remember in class at school when you always wore your hair over your ears as you hated your ears and when you had them pinned back and moaned cos you couldnt wash your hair for weeks.

I remember when we had a fall out over something silly and you sat next to me in class humming the whole lesson so you didnt have to speak to me.

I remember chosing your first curtains with you for your first house,remember those awful fruit explosion things with the matching border.

I remember wondering how your house always managed to look so fab with 2 lively boys running around.

I remember you being my bridesmaid and flashing your bum to the camera.(I still have the video)and the wonderful champagne breakfast that victor made for us.

I remember naming my daughter after you Rebecca Michelle

I remember my son being born on your birthday

I remember the last time we spoke.........not long ago!!! and we promised to see each other,meet in the middle you said.

This school break has been all about baking,buiscuits,cakes and icing,with sticky floors to proove it!!

My little Lucy chef was in full action in her own little kitchen,its so sweet watching her play mummy and make cups of tea along with all the slurping noises for effect

Lucy and Daniel enjoying afternoon tea,as I cooked for all the family.They babbled and babbled to each other and Daniel decided he was making cross buns!!! I think I would like to taste his cross buns,maybe they are not so happy cos they are being eaten.

Daniel always makes me smile when I give him one of those looks when he is being naughty and says"mummy stop looking at me with cross eyes"

Here are our valentine buiscuits that I ended up taking to a girly night with friends,just because the recipie I made for the event turned in to a total disaster so they saved the day and all the girls were taking a heart or two back to their husbands and loved ones as a last minute valentine gift,

Glad I assist sending a little romantic gesture back to a few homes in the end so I didnt feel quite so bad turning up with my kiddies hand baked hearts after all

Please excuse the randomness of my posts.I am revamping my blog (with the view to actually posting more) and I decided I wanted larger pictures and have been playing a little!!!

I have not blogged about all the problems we have had recently with Daniels school but I decided to move him to a new school for a fresh start as he has been so very withdrawn and he has just finished his first week at a smaller village school where he only has to share a classroom with 11 other students.

Slowly my little boy is coming back and his anxiety is clearing and I am so glad I made the choice to move him,we just didnt realise just how badly he had been affected and how overwhelmed he had been at his old school.

Its so sad that his first taste of scjhool life was such a bad experience for him but we hope he can forget and move on very quickly

My big boy is 5,its all going to happen now,he is growing up way too fast,
We held a party for him last weekend and we had a day building all his gifts.

I am an expert lego builder now!!

I took him to a large model shop with his birthday money from his nanny and he brought a speed boat and is made up with it,thanks nanny!!

Wish we had a bigger pool to sail it in though,maybe a trip to the boating lake is on the cards

Daniel has grown,he has learnt to ride a bike without stabalisers he has had a new x box and Lego,he is looking forward to starting school and very much looking forward to his fun time factory party and his 5th birthday

Megan has grown taller than her mummy,she has become a fashion addict,mainly for jack wills and joules clothing,never the cheap stuff
She is now 12 and has guinee pigs,I have always said no to furry pets till now.Megan is growing up but still so young in many ways,this time I shall hold on to she will be a young lady soon

Lucy is turning in to a funny,stroppy little cheeky girl,a bit of a daredevil,always climbing and can say a few words now

Her prints and patterns are amazing and I thought I would share my latest creation from the little stitches book.

The pyjamas were quite easy to make and I think I will try and make a bigger pattern and make some for Megan and Daniel.

I had a slight problem in that i sewed the front panels the wrong way and couldnt be bothered to satrt again but its not made much of a difference.

I have the craft bug and here are a sample of my first projects,the first dress I made was the first ever time I had used a pattern (apart from making a bag once)

I then got a little adventurous and cut a pattern out from one of lucys dresses,this was harder but I loved the finished results.

At the weekend we had a big snow fall,it was rather scarey at the time as I was driving home from the city at the time and I could not even make out the road the snow had fallen so fast.
When I arrived home I found a very red faced happy little boy throwing snowballs and my whole body relaxed at the sight of my 2 boys playing in the stuff that had just had me gripping my steering wheel so tight my hands had set in one position.

I love snow,but not when I have to drive in it!!!
We had the whole weekend with snow and then by monday morning it had all vanished like it had never been here at all.

I am doing a photography course at the moment and we are set projects every week.
This week was night photography and as I was driving back home the other night I saw the churchyard all lit up looking very pretty and as you need either a tripod a VERY steady hand or somewhere to place the camera with a slow shutter speed it meant that I had to dodge down by the side of the church gates and the only shot that was in view was this spooky grave stone

Suddenly this figure appeared making me jump out of my skin but I actually made him jump more than me,I guess i did look a bit odd crouching down besides the grave stones!!!!

We had a great Halloween.I just love this time of year when the nights get all chilly and there is a magic feeling in the air.

We could not face the millions of knocking spooks at our door this year so we decided to go to a theme halloween event and although I was a little unsure how my middle monster would be,he was either going to be mage scared or just unphased by it,you never can tell with Daniel.

The terror trail as it was called was lit by pumpkins and along the way we encountered spooks and gouls who jumped out of the forest trees and Daniel laughed his little socks off all the way round

The sun shone on at the police gala day at the weekend and we saw so many big trucks and cars and bikes.

Well the day finally arrived and with shiny new shoes and a blazer to grow in to Megan has now started her new college.

She is loving her new school and has even gone to bed at a kind of decent hour ready for school on a saturday!!!!

Nights sitting outside with a glass of wine!!!!
Last night we sat outside with our champagne truffle pate and a glass of wine,sitting there on the decking feeling a warm glow from the candle I wrapped a blanket round my shoulders and thought that these nights are very limited now and we will be sitting inside at night soon with only the pretend flame of fire from the fake flame firplace in our lounge.

Vending machines for running shoes

Yes its true,when was the last time you were out in the high street and thought,hmmmm I really could do with a new pair of running shoes and the shops are shut?
Well here goes the vending machines hold 24 pairs of shoes in 6 sizes and so now there is no excuse.

I found no such machine as I went on my second run since having Lucy but I did manage to run for a little longer than last time and with the buzz of energy I had when I came home I went like a whirlwind through the house changing beds and tidying round so all in all a good workout for me,now I just need to see some results,this baby belly has to go

Two of my friends are about to emigrate all the way to Australia and today we all met at the park.
Daniel has known these friends from since he was born and it made me feel so sad for both of us that we will both saying goodbye to 2 lots of friends.
I am happy for them also that they are living out their dreams and one friend is moving to Sydney and the other to Adelaide so I am sure to get great holidays in Ozz now

Lucy's room was mind full of our baby being either boy or girl as we chose not to find out before our children were born.I think at some point it will become a princess palace of pink and fluffiness but for now she enjoys being in her room and the main thing is whatever colour it is she sleeps like a little sleeping beauty

A boys haven

I think after adding pictures of Beckies new home I have felt that my home is a little left out and maybe its why I have the urge to document the childrens rooms and it will be great to look back on when they are all grown up and lets see what they have held on to as they grow!!!!
Daniels room is all things boats and boys and I did have fun finding some lovely boy stuff for his room.
Right now his daddy is putting him to bed in said room and probably daddy will fall asleep before Daniel so I guess its a very relaxing sea calming room

There is no colour scheme going on in our house but there is no mistaking whos is whos room,Megan is such a girly girl and has lots of lovely pink things she never used to very girly so I was surprised when she went all out for pink but she loves her girls room and I must admit it has a very calming atmosphere

We were invited to a friends beach hut on sunday and we went to the harbour for a bite to eat and buy some fish.
Andrew and Daniel really love their fish and we found an absouloutly amazing fish hut that served up platters of freshly caught fish.
We came home with some sea bass and dressed crab and as soon as we got home that evening while I bathes the children Andrew cooked the fish for us all for an evening supper.....Mmmmmmm these days are just the best and truly what family is all about,a wonderful day

Its not Megans birthday till monday but she had a pre birthday celebration and I took her and a couple of frinds to the cinema to see Mama Mia and then a sleep over as well.
The girls had a great time and Mama mia was really good,we came out singing dancing queen.
She will be 11 ohh my goodness my little girl is getting all grown up

Walk in the wood

We too a pinic and headed off to the forest,this is a forest with a difference as it has lots of fun activities and you can even climb the trees and slide all the way down on metal ropes.
We kept our feet almost firmly on the ground and had a really nice time till Daniel started to feel poorly,he had had his booster immunisations the day before and I think it had made him feel really off colour but at least he got to enjoy himself before we took him home.
Daniel and megan took a friend each as well and they all had lots of fun

A lovely new home

Today we went to see Beckie in her new home and it is such a lovely place to start her new life with boyfriend Chris.
I think they will be very happy here and WOW what a kitchen to ccok all those romantic meals for 2 in.

You can see the sea from where she lives and that is fantastic in itself as there is nothing better than to breath in the sea air and take a walk along the beach after a stressful day at work

I love taking pictures and I have enroled in a photography course starting in September and I am soo excited,hopefully you will see from september my technique improving and some of my work will be going on this blog.

Lucy and Megan are fantastic to photograph,Lucy not being aware of the camera and Megan just loving her picture taken.The hardset one to photograph id Daniel and he will dodge the camera at every chance so I have to catch him unaware.

I was thinking back to how I used to manage to juggle work and family life the other day and I am not really sure how I did although we all survived and somehow it kind of worked AND I made time for myself.
I just dont do that now I feel like I havnt earned it in some ways and when I was out working I felt like I had,if this makes any sence.

I know this is crazy and maybe a bit of me time is a good idea to keep me sane through all the day to day chores.I am not complaining though I think of how stressed I used to be and how much I missed the children growing up and even birthday parties when I was just to busy to be there.

I guess the baggage of guilt we mums carry round when we work and when we dont work are always there but in different forms and this is just part of being a mummy

Megs and I waited till everyone went to bed to create these cupcakes and didnt finish till 11pm but we had a great time chatting and decorating our cakes and we told Daniel that the faries had been in the night and made us cakes....yeah right mum!!!! he didnt buy it but he enjoyed eating the cakes all the same

I had a very good little helper today in the kitchen,Daniel really loved to help me cook and I must say he helped me make the perfect roasts.

There were not many carrots left by the time they went in the pan though!!!
